Lucie Sabine was born on August 7 at 12:29am, only 30 minutes past her Dad's birthday! Weighing in at 8lbs, 7oz, Lucie is a healthy and happy girl, and her folks could not be happier.
Honestly we think someone switched babies on us, but as Dad can attest she was never once out of our sight. Either our Doctor is a magician, or we're blinded by some sort of natural parental hormone, or we're just pretty good at making very pretty babies. Doesn't matter to us, regardless :)
As for the birth, Mom did great! We checked in at 5am after a night of Thai food and two hours of prescribed walking around the hospital floor. Painkillers helped early, as did a blessed epidural. Unfortunately it wore off just before the big event. But she weathered the storm and after only 45 minutes of active pushing she gave birth to our Lucie! Note: Dad should also be commended for not passing out even though he had an unexpected front row seat and forgot to breathe for a few minutes. (Maybe a golf clap would do)
Incidentally, Lucie means "light." She has certainly brightened our lives.
